Empowering Israeli Youth through Peace Oriented Civic Education for a Just Future.

האדר שקוף_edited.png

FORTH envisions a future where young Israelis emerge as leaders committed to peace, justice, and mutual understanding. We aim to reshape the next generation’s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by equipping them with knowledge, empathy, and courage. Education, we believe, is the cornerstone of a just resolution—one that secures dignity and safety for both peoples. We see an Israel rooted in democratic values, led by youth who reject hatred and fear in favor of hope and dialogue.

The Problem

Peace education is nearly absent from Israel’s formal curriculum. Most students graduate without exposure to the Palestinian narrative or the principles of peacemaking, leaving room for ignorance and fear to flourish.

Many Israeli teens grow up isolated from Palestinians, encountering only barriers and alarming headlines. One-sided narratives and rising nationalism deepen cynicism about (the possibility of) peace and suspicion of “the other”, Especially following October 7th.
Without intervention (peace oriented civic education), this cycle of alienation will intensify, endangering Israel’s democracy and dimming prospects for a peaceful future.

  • The education system does not address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and students lack even basic knowledge regarding maps and borders.

  • 70% of young Israelis believe that the only way to approach the conflict is through the use of force.
The younger the age group is, there is significantly wider support for the use of force. In the more mature age group, there is support for a political arrangement that recognizes the complexity of the conflict.

  • 39% of Israeli youth support denying voting rights to Palestinian citizens of Israel.

Bridging this gap

FORTH bridges this gap with innovative peace, civic education programs that spark dialogue and critical thinking. We deliver seminars and workshops in high schools, youth movements, pre-military academies, and community centers across Israel.

  • The programs are led by a FORTH expert educator team, applying our unique pedagogy that combines knowledge and attitude.

  • The programs weave various perspectives and host a variety of speakers: FORTH experts, Palestinian speakers, religious perspeictive and more.

  • Through role-play, group discussions, and reflective exercises, participants confront stereotypes, build empathy, and explore paths to peace.

“The course taught me to stay optimistic—to act for peace wherever life takes me” one participant reflected. Others realize that peace demands courage and compromise from all sides. Each shift in perspective lays the groundwork for a generation poised to reject apathy and extremism.
